How to look natural on camera
Six things we tell every interviewee before the red light comes on.
- Talk to the interviewer, not the lens. We'll put them right next to the camera.
- Answer in full sentences that include the question. "We started in 2018 because…"
- It's fine to stop and start over. Nobody sees the outtakes.
- Sit forward a little. It reads as engaged.
- Hands are fine. Pens and phones are not.
- Have water nearby and drink it.
Most people are nervous for the first two minutes. By the third question they forget the camera.
